Curriculum Information

Our curriculum is designed to ensure that each individual student is educated and supported to succeed in the world today. The academy offers a wide range of high quality academic and vocational courses. The curriculum for each Key Stage is outlined below.
 

Key Stage 3

This weekly key stage programme of study is followed during years 7 and 8. In the majority of subjects, students are put into sets appropriate to their ability.

Key Stage 4

The Key Stage 4 programme of study is followed during years 9, 10 & 11 and split into two ability bands in Year 11. The Higher Ability students follow the English Baccalaureate subjects, whilst the Lower Ability students follow a narrower curriculum. All students have two option choices which will be allocated 3 teaching periods each. All students will also have to choose either or both GCSE History / Geography. This mandatory choice will be allocated 4 teaching periods. Some options choices may have entry criteria.
