Year 8 Enrichments

All students in Year 8 should attend a minimum of two enrichments per week (apart from early morning enrichments).  Please complete the form at the bottom of this page to register your choices for this term.  All sessions run from 2.40-3.30pm Monday & Friday, and 3.30-4.20pm Tuesday-Thursday unless otherwise stated.

Enrichment Related Subject Type of Activities
Around The World Geography Exploring different cultures and lands.
Ask a Historian History Students will discover historical facts and be able to have in depth discussions.
Culture Club Modern Foreign Languages Students will participate in fun activities, experiencing a variety of languages from Spanish, Japanese, Swahli and French.  Students will also have the opportunity to learn about the countries’ cultures.
Drama Club Drama Drama games and improvisation to improve drama, social and communication skills.
Guitar Ensemble Music A practical group based music lesson aimed to develop students’ musical abilities as well as guitar proficiency.
Robotics ICT Students will learn to program with Lego Mindstorm; building and programming a robot whislt learning the fundamentals of programming.
Spanish Culture Modern Foreign Languages
Geography
Learning about the different cultures in Spain.
UKMT Challenge Mathematics Students will prepare for the UK Maths challenge that tests the mathematical ability of students.
Woodwind Ensemble Music The woodwind ensemble will focus on developing as a musician.  They will expand their capabilities on tonality, improvisation, and reading music, playing as a soloist and as a band.
