Extra Curricular Activities
Studying hard is the main reason for taking Post 16 courses within the Federation, but we recognise that students make better progress if they can participate in, and benefit from, a wide range of extra curricular activities. Within the Federation we provide a much wider variety of activities for students to engage in, including the following:
Young Enterprise
Under this scheme, students form fully functioning companies and design and sell their own products or services. Young Enterprise enables students to enter the real world of business and compete in the marketplace in research, production, personnel management, financial management and accounting.
Enrichment Courses for Personal Development
Across the Federation we have the scope to offer extensive enrichment activities which can range from sporting activties to participating in the debating society or learning conversational languages as an additional course. We create the opportunities to expand your CV and interests.
General Studies AS and Citizenship AS
Students who study a level 3 course will also be required to study either General Studies AS or Citizenship AS.
GCSE Mathematics and English Language
Those students who have not passed their GCSE English or Mathematics at least a grade C standard, will also be required to study these qualifications and retake the exam.
Work based placement
All students will be required to undertake a work based placement throughout their courses.
Entry Qualifications
Students will need to achieve the following for a level 3 course:
At least 5 GCSEs at grade C or above ideally including Maths and English
To take a level 2 Intermediate course students should have at least 5 GCSE grades three of which should be at grade D.
Taster Day in Summer Term
A taster day will be available for students to sample activities from the courses we offer.
