BET

The Enterprise faculty is fundamentally committed to developing the creative abilities of our students; enabling and empowering them to communicate effectively through the mediums of art, writing, drama, dance, music and sport.
Subjects within the BET Faculty are DT (Design Technology) & BICT (Business, Information Communication & Technology).

We believe that all students at Harris have the right to a technological education, using state of the art equipment, leading to quality outcomes in DT and BICT.  This in turn ensures an understanding of the role technology plays in our modern society.

This year we won the Harris Egg Race, hosted by Harris City Academy Crystal Palace. There are a number of Technology enrichment session on offer.  We have a brand new state of the art DT suite.

KS4 will be attending Business seminars to help them with their coursework preparation.

The BICT department runs after Academy sessions where students can use ICT to improve their class work.  BTEC students will be visiting business organisations in the summer term, to have hands on experience working with the IT industry.

Our enterprise specialism was launched in September and the response has been excellent from both staff and students.  During National Enterprise week 17th-21st Nov every subject at Harris Academy Falconwood organised a team Enterprise challenge to develop key enterprising skills.  In addition to this, students independently set up their own business. This was launched during year 7 parents evening.  These businesses included making and selling cakes, personlised mugs, stationary and sports leaders challenge. There will be other challenges throughout the year.

We continue to be proud of the academic, creative and sporting achievements of students within the BET Faculty as well as their high standards of work and behaviour.
