Communications

Subjects within the Communications Faculty are English and Media Studies, French, Geography, History, Religion and Philosophy and Preparation for Adulthood.

We believe that all students at Harris have the right to develop a wide range of skills within a technologically rich environment. Students are encouraged to acquire a wider understanding of the world around them and to appreciate the history, culture, languages and beliefs of different peoples both within and beyond the UK. Our goal is for all students to develop as confident, happy and healthy citizens.

Each year the Humanities subjects aim to organise a range of trips and activities to promote learning outside the classroom environment.  GCSE Geography students take part in fieldwork activities in order to complete the coursework assignment.

The Modern Foreign Languages team is working to raise the profile of language learning at Harris. We hope to offer residential trips to France for students who want to practise their French language as well as take on challenging activities such as water sports and archery.

The Communications Faculty leads the way in several inter-faculty competitions. Students’ attendance and punctuality is good and students in the Faculty make generous contributions to charitable causes, such as Readathon and the Christmas Shoe –box appeal.
