Arts

Subjects within the Arts Faculty are; Art and Design, Physical Education, Music and Drama.

The Arts Faculty is fundamentally committed to developing the creative abilities of our students; enabling and empowering them to communicate effectively through the mediums of art, drama, dance, music and sport.

Each year we organise and run a wide variety of theatre trips, art gallery trips sporting activities. We offer enrichment activities in Art, Dance, Drama and Music for students at the end of the Academy day. We offer peripatetic music lessons to individual students. In June we host our annual Art and Design exhibition, where an array of impressive student work is on display to students, parents, staff and governors.

Sport is one of the Academies specialisms, and as part of this we aim to encourage a healthy sense of competition and a can-do attitude throughout the curriculum, challenging students to match and improve their personal best performance in each subject.  Students participate in a number of Harris Federation sporting events including coaching for Gifted and Talented students and the annual Federation Sports Day held at the National Sports Centre in Crystal Palace.

We continue to be proud of the academic, creative and sporting achievements of students within the Arts Faculty as well as their high standards of work and behaviour.  The Arts Faculty competes in all inter-faculty competitions. Students’ attendance and punctuality is good and students in the Faculty make generous contributions to charitable causes, such as Readathon and the Christmas Shoe –box appeal.
