ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

The Harris Academy Falconwood opened in September 2008. The Academy’s specialisms are Enterprise and Sport with a ‘can-do’ ethos of always improving upon your personal best. Our accommodation from September 2011 is a new purpose built Academy to the value of £25 million.
 
The post: This post will suit a hard working, ambitious and talented leader. You will have a proven track record of success in raising standards and in innovation as a subject leader. You will undertake whole Academy duties, including:
 
  • Academic and pastoral responsibility for a quarter of the students in the Academy.
 
·         Senior Leadership responsibility for a quarter of curriculum areas.
 
  • To collaborate as a member of the Academy Leadership Team in order to build a shared vision of excellence and high standards for all students.
 
  • To contribute to raising standards of student attainment and to monitor the effectiveness of teaching and learning within the Academy.
 
  • To strengthen the Academy’s organisational capacity by contributing to its effective day-to-day management.
 
  • To develop a safe, secure and healthy environment within the Academy.
 
  • To participate in regular Academy self-review and to strive for continuous improvement in all aspects of the Academy’s work.
 
  • To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate.
 
  • To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students.
 
  • To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential.

About you: You will have the ability, drive and enthusiasm to make a difference to students and young people from Bexley, Greenwich and the surrounding area, and to help build on the Academy’s outstanding first three sets of GCSE results. 
The successful candidate can expect to work in an atmosphere of mutual support and co-operation.
