Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award Practice Expedition

The students’ will undertake their practice expedition over a three day period. We will leave Harris Academy Falconwood at 3.00pm on Friday 21st April; therefore students are required to meet in the Sports Hall after school at 2.40pm. We will then travel by minibus to Hope Hill Campsite, in Meopham, Kent. Students must be completely self-sufficient during this expedition, which requires them to cook, clean and navigate their way to each check point where they will be met by a member of staff.

Students are practicing their camp-craft and hiking in preparation for their qualifying expedition which will be held in Brighton in May, where they will be assessed by an official DofE Assessor.  Students will be supervised at campsites but must complete cooking and cleaning independently.

We will be returning to the Academy at approximately 3.00pm on Sunday 23rd April.  Your son/daughter must wear appropriate outdoor clothing for the duration of the expedition and a kit list will be given to students before the expedition weekend.  Students are required to wear their uniform to the Academy for normal lessons on Friday.
