H2O Heroes Trip

During the last month, your son/daughter has participated in a unique initiative called H2O Heroes, run by an organisation called Global Action Aid and sponsored by Thames Water and the City of London. The project’s mission is to raise awareness about water conservation around our Academy and our greater community.  Students were asked to think creatively about how they could get Harris Academy Falconwood to be more “water-conscious”.  We have had a number of ambitious projects created by the Year 7’s to raise awareness; from colourful posters to educational videos – and even a catchy song.  As a result of the amazing work the students have done, Global Action Aid has invited them to attend a ceremony at City Hall in London celebrating the hard work students have put in to their water conservation projects.

The ceremony will take place on Friday 24th March.  Your son/daughter will need to arrive early to the Academy, as we will leave promptly at 8.00am to travel by public transport.  The event will begin at 9.30am and ends at 1.30pm, including time for students to have lunch at City Hall.  We expect to return to the Academy at approximately 2.50pm.  As we will travel to City Hall by public transport, your son/daughter will need to have sufficient credit on his/her Oyster Card before the trip or bring a valid travel card for that day.  There is no other cost for this trip.  Your son/daughter must bring a packed lunch.  Those students receiving free meals will be supplied with a packed lunch, providing you indicate this on the reply slip.
