English Schools Cross Country Cup

A team of sixteen students have taken part in the first round of the English Schools Cross Country Cup,  competing against schools from all over Kent in races of an incredibly high calibre on a very undulating with only a 100m stretch of flat ground!

In the Junior Boys race, the team ran well and worked together to get each other round the tough course with Joe Williams finishing 46th, Ronnie McClean in 49th, Reiss McRaye 57th and Luis Marshall 58th.  Overall the team came 11th with 210 points.

The Junior Girls found the course especially tough, with 800m specialist Sophie Francis leading them home in a superb 26th place.  She was followed home by Millie Thistleton in 44th with Lucy Bourn and Ellen Macdonald finishing in 50th and 51st place respectively.  This placed the team 9th.

The Inter Boys were the class act of the day with an outstanding team performance.  The Schenke brothers brought the team home with an incredible 6th position for Leo and 9th position for Oliver (who was racing up a year!).  Lewis Ball then finished strongly in 38th and Pacey Merrick coming in 48th position.  This gave the team a score of 99 leaving them 6th in the team rankings.

The Inter Girls performed admirably, with Lily Clancy leading the team home in 31st position.  She was followed across the line by Isabela Harris in 44th and Sophie Vaughan 46th.  Maisy Deeks, who was drafted in as a last minute replacement, ran her heart out finishing 47th.  This left the girls in 10th place with 168 points.
