Mr Sam Hayes
Assistant Principal - Head of Sixth Form, Careers
Mr Hayes joined Harris Academy Falconwood in 2014 as a Teacher of PE and Sport and has since progressed through a number of leadership roles, including Head of Year 12 and Assistant Principal. In 2023, he was appointed Assistant Principal with responsibility for Sixth Form. He brings a proven track record of developing high standards, driving student achievement and creating a culture of ambition across post‑16 provision.
Originally studying PE and Sport, Mr Hayes completed his teacher training through the Harris Initial Teacher Training programme, where he achieved the highest grade on the course for his dissertation on Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU).
Mr Hayes is passionate about ensuring that all Sixth Form students are aspirational and fully prepared for their next steps. He is committed to creating an inclusive and ambitious environment where every student is supported to achieve their goals and progress successfully to university, apprenticeships or employment.
Outside of his core role, Mr Hayes has a strong interest in personal development and regularly engages with literature in this field. He actively applies evidence‑informed strategies within the Sixth Form to enhance students’ resilience, independence and long‑term success.
