Staying Safe and Well This Summer

Staying Safe and Well This Summer

The summer holidays are a valuable opportunity for students to relax, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy a well-earned break after a busy and successful year. However, we also recognise that the long summer holiday can be challenging for some young people and families.

We encourage all students and families to take time to prioritise their physical wellbeing, mental health and online safety throughout the break. Whether that means maintaining healthy routines, staying connected with trusted adults and friends, being mindful of screen time, or ensuring that online activity remains safe and positive, these small steps can make a significant difference over the summer period.

To support our community, we have produced a Summer Safeguarding Newsletter, which is available on our website. The newsletter contains a range of useful information and advice, including:

  • Looking after mental health and emotional wellbeing during the summer break.
  • Guidance for families on managing screen time and promoting healthy digital habits.
  • Advice to help keep children safe online.
  • Information about accessing support services during the holidays.
  • Important guidance on water safety, particularly relevant during the periods of hot weather we have been experiencing.
  • Practical tips to help keep young people safe and well throughout the summer.

Please read our Summer Safeguarding Newsletter here.

We strongly encourage all families to take a few moments to read the guidance and discuss it together. By working together, we can help ensure that all of our students have a safe, happy and healthy summer holiday and return to the Academy in September ready for another successful year.
