Mr Darren Pearce

Mr Pearce is the Head of Academy at Harris Academy Falconwood, bringing with him a strong record of transformational leadership and an unwavering commitment to educational excellence and social justice.

Mr Pearce has been part of the Harris Federation since 2013, building extensive experience across a range of leadership roles. In 2024, he joined Harris Academy Falconwood as Senior Vice Principal with responsibility for Quality of Education, where he played a pivotal role in strengthening teaching and learning across the academy. Following this success, he was appointed Head of Academy in 2025. He was instrumental in securing the academy’s highly positive Ofsted outcome in March 2025 and has previously contributed to three Outstanding Ofsted judgements across the Federation.

He studied Modern History at the University of Oxford. Following his studies, he initially pursued a career in the finance sector. However, he soon realised that his heart was not in it. Driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference, he moved into education, where working with young people has given him the sense of purpose he was seeking. He finds working with teenagers to be both energising and deeply rewarding, with no two days ever the same.

Mr Pearce’s own journey is rooted in humble beginnings. Growing up in South East London and attending school in New Cross, he was the first in his family to achieve a GCSE and to go on to university. His experiences shaped the values that underpin his leadership today: resilience, hard work, determination, and a deep commitment to equity and opportunity for all.

Inspired by teachers who recognised and nurtured his potential, Mr Pearce is passionate about creating a school where every student is both challenged and supported to achieve their very best, regardless of their starting point or circumstances. He is dedicated to ensuring that Harris Academy Falconwood is a place where all members of the community feel a strong sense of belonging.

Mr Pearce’s vision is for students to develop not only academic excellence, but also the strength of character needed to thrive in the wider world. He is committed to nurturing confident, articulate young people with broad horizons, individuals who demonstrate empathy, kindness, and the courage to challenge injustice, and who are equipped to become the leaders of the future.

He is proud to lead Harris Academy Falconwood and excited to continue building a culture of ambition, inclusion, and excellence for every student.
