Pride Month 2026 – Celebrating Inclusion, Diversity and Allyship

This June, our academy community came together to celebrate LGBT+ Pride Month 2026, embracing the themes of inclusion, education, allyship and celebration. Throughout the month, students and staff took part in a range of activities designed to promote understanding, encourage kindness and celebrate the rich diversity that makes our community so special.

One of the standout highlights was our Kindness Tree installation in the assembly hall. During Morning Read, students from all year groups reflected on what it means to be an ally and considered the importance of creating an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Students then shared their thoughts on colourful Post-it notes, filling the tree with inspiring messages of support, solidarity and inclusion. The result was a vibrant and powerful display that served as a daily reminder of the values we champion as a school.

The celebrations extended across the academy, with our Music Department curating an uplifting playlist featuring music from famous LGBT+ artists. The soundtrack provided a positive and welcoming start to each school day and helped create a wonderful atmosphere throughout the month.

Students also took part in assemblies exploring the significant contributions that LGBT + individuals have made to science, innovation and wider society, helping to broaden their understanding of the impact that diversity has on shaping the world around us.

The month concluded with a hugely successful student-led bake and drinks sale, which brought students together in a spirit of celebration and community. The event was incredibly well supported and provided a fitting finale to a month that highlighted the importance of respect, acceptance and belonging.

One student reflected:

"I really liked seeing everyone's messages on the Kindness Tree. It showed how supportive our school community is, and it was great to learn more about people who have made a difference while also celebrating Pride together."

Pride Month 2026 was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the values that are at the heart of our academy. We would like to thank all the students and staff who contributed to making the month such a success and for helping to create a welcoming, inclusive and vibrant environment for everyone. We are incredibly proud of the respect, kindness and understanding shown throughout the celebrations and look forward to building on this success in the years to come.
