Harris Academy Falconwood Celebrates Bumper GCSE Success

Students at Harris Academy Falconwood are celebrating today after its students have been awarded some of the best results in the academy’s history. Following the academy’s recent Ofsted visit earlier in the year - which noted that pupils receive a very strong education and achieve highly - the staff are thrilled with the continued academic success of their students and are incredibly proud of the resilience and tenacity demonstrated by all students receiving their results today.
GCSE results showed a big improvement from last year, with 86% of students achieving a grade 4 or above in English and just under 70% achieving a grade 5 or better - an excellent result and the best ever achieved by the academy. Other notable strengths include:
- Statistics: 100% 5+ and 83% 7+
- Food Preparation and Nutrition: 100% 4+ and 64% 5+
- Biology: 94% 4+, 84% 5+ and 26% 7+
- Chemistry: 94% 4+, 81% 5+ and 35% 7+
- Art: 92% 4+ and 69% 5+
- Religious Studies: 90% 4+, 80% 5+ and 50% 7+
- Physical Education: 85% 4+ and 69% 5+
- Media Studies: 85% 4+ and 60% 5+
- Health and Fitness: 100% Pass, 88% Merit and 38% Distinction
