School Food Standards Consultation

There is an important national consultation currently being led by the government regarding proposed changes to School Food Standards in England.

As a school, we welcome the government’s intention to strengthen the quality and nutritional value of food available to children and young people. Healthy, nutritious school meals play an important role in supporting pupils’ wellbeing, concentration and readiness to learn, and we believe this consultation is an important opportunity for families to help shape the future of school food.

While the majority of any changes are not expected to come into effect until September 2027, the consultation is open now and it is vital that the voices of parents, carers and schools are heard at this stage. 

We would therefore strongly encourage all families to take a few moments to read the proposals and complete the consultation so that your views can help inform future policy.
