Programmes of study and entry requirements
At Harris Academy Falconwood Sixth Form we offer 3 main pathways of study.

A-levels
To study a programme of 3 A-levels students must achieve seven GCSEs or equivalent, at grade 5 or above AND meet the grade criteria for the chosen subjects. Please see the full list of subject specific entry requirements. -
Combination
Students who achieve a minimum of five grade 5s at GCSE or equivalent, will be able to access a combination of A-levels and vocational qualifications. For A-levels, students must also meet the grade criteria for their chosen subjects. -
Vocational level 3 qualifications
Students achieving a minimum of five grade 4s at GCSE or equivalent, will be able access our vocational CTEC qualifications. Students must also achieve a grade 4 in English or Maths, and no lower than 3 in either.
Harris Academy Falconwood's Sixth Form is proud to be fully compliant with the Department for Education's 16-19 Study Programme Guidance, offering a broad, balanced, and ambitious curriculum for all its students.
Qualification hours
Every HAF student in the sixth form studies a minimum of 3 qualifications, which are either 3 full A-levels or a combination of A-levels and/or Vocations qualifications. These are delivered over 7 periods per two weeks of 85 minutes, which equates to a total of 9 hours and 55 minutes every two weeks of face-to-face teaching per subject.
Non-qualification hours
Every HAF sixth form student has additional non-qualification activities included in their study programme. These include:
- Enrichment and PSHCE lessons
- 7 independent study periods every two weeks each of 85 minutes.
- Work experience, both virtual and physical. Work experience takes place over two full school weeks in Year 12.

We also offer GCSE Maths and English as resits for students that have not achieved a grade 4. Only one can be taken not both.
Option Blocks and Timetable - 2025/26
Below are the option blocks constructed for the academic year 2025 – 2026. Students select three subjects from the four possible blocks, their remaining block is their independent study period. Students have seven lessons per subject over the two-week timetable.

Curriculum Rationale
Labour Market Employment Routes and the Curriculum:
In 2023 The Office for National Statistics (ONS) produced a Labour Market report for the borough of Bexley. This predicts that most of the future net increases of jobs within the Bexley area will require attainment/training/skills acquisition at Levels 3 or above.
Over 65% of jobs will require a Level 3 qualification or over. Within the Bexley area their model projects that there will be substantial jobs expansion demand particularly in higher qualified jobs such as Managers, Directors and Senior Officials, Professional Occupations and Administrative & Secretarial Occupations.
