Welcome from the Head of Academy

An extremely warm welcome to the Harris Academy Falconwood website.  I hope that it provides you with the information that you need, and gives you a sense of what our Academy is all about.  We pride ourselves in creating a supportive community where our students are offered the best educational experience in order to develop confidence, self-belief and self-drive.

In September 2008 we joined the Harris Federation, a not-for-profit charity with 25 years of experience in education.  In joining the Harris Federation, we have become part of a family of more than forty happy and highly successful primary, secondary and sixth form providers in schools across London.  Being part of such a successful Federation allows our teachers and leaders to continue to develop their practice.

“We have wonderful staff, very supportive parents, a very committed Governing Body and most of all we have great students who love to learn”.

I am very privileged to be the Head of Academy at Harris Academy Falconwood.  I believe that education offers young people a platform for success, and acts as a tool to broaden their horizons, providing them with opportunities that they may not have considered.  Education is equally so much more than exam results, the Academy allows students to feel safe, valued and happy, all contributing to positive attitudes and positive learning.  We inspire and encourage all of our students and support them continuously through their journey into young adults.  Everything we do is based around our three core values which support our students to become happy, educated young people with the drive and desire to succeed.  Our core values contribute to our students’ success and their ability to grow and develop into kind and thoughtful young people;

SERVE

We have built a caring and inclusive community where our students serve themselves, each other and our local community.

SUPPORT

We support our students throughout their time with us, equipping them with the tools and knowledge they need to achieve their future dreams and aspirations.

SUCCESS

We pride ourselves on providing our students with a strong academic foundation to ensure they have success in their chosen path. Our students leave us with strong academic qualifications, a currency that opens doors to their future choices.

If you would like to visit the Academy or have any questions or would like to know a little bit more about what we do, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Mr Tom Street
Head of Academy

British Values

Harris Academy Falconwood actively promotes and practises acceptance and engagement with the fundamental British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs; the students develop and demonstrate skills and attitudes that will allow them to participate fully in and contribute positively to life in modern Britain.

We enable students and staff to develop their self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence as well as encourage them to respect each other and other’s opinions.  We encourage an understanding of right and wrong, taking responsibility, how we contribute to society and being tolerant of each other and our cultural traditions.  This is further promoted in our Academy Assemblies, Celebration of Achievement Evenings and Tutor Time Programme as well as across the Curriculum as a whole.

Virtual Tour

We strongly believe in our three core values: 'Serve, Support, Success,' and these are at the centre of everything we do.  We aim to give a foundation for success by helping students develop the skills and attributes they will need throughout their lives.

Students are expected to work hard and self-regualte to achieve their best, develop skills relevant to the 21st Century and develop the self-confidence, resilience and sense of purpose necessary for success in a highly competitive global society.

Please take a look at our fantastic building and facilities with our virtual tour.

Finally, here is what some of our students have to say about our Academy and our dedicated staff:

Thank you for taking the time to visit our Academy, albeit virtually.  We hope that you have found it interesting.  Below is a link to our admissions information and prospectus.  If you would like any further information, please do contact us via email.
